Battle Style: Alex’s battle style is very analytical. He knows all about type match ups, and he prefers to get the battle over with as soon as possible in order to move on as soon as possible, hopefully with a quick KO or making them fall asleep or some other was to make them unable to battle. If he doesn’t however, he’s in for a long haul. If he is unable to think his way out of a situation, he is willing to throw the rules into the wind and attack with everything he has. When fighting, he prefers using Pokémon that have strong attacks and can take a few hits, even if they are a little slow. He hopes to expand his team to meet this theme, maybe take advantage of Trick Room later on.
Looks: One look at Alex tells you he’s a nerd. Short at 5’3” and somewhat overweight, he certainly isn’t athletic. He has medium length brown hair and sideburns and perpetual stubble due to a lax shaving schedule. He has green eyes behind grey framed glasses that show his knowledge.
His clothing tells you he doesn’t really care about fashion. He often wears collared shirts and a zip-up hoodie that he sheds if it is warm out. He also wears light pants with pockets that he carries his pokeballs and other stuff in. To complete the outfit, he wear brown shoes with grey socks and carries around a black backpack to carry a bunch of gear in as well as a plain steel watch. He often wears a white Tilley hat with some spare cash stuffed into the pocket in the crown.
Personality: Alex doesn’t just look like a nerd, his personality matches one perfectly. He is very smart, but he is shy and is bad with people. He is usually quiet, but when he talks it is either some important information or some sort of joke. He would much rather be by himself reading a book than be anywhere close to a party. He can be rather lazy at times and he would much rather hide from any sort of disruption, but his Pokémon give him courage to face things.
His main drive in life is knowledge and to find out about many of the mysteries of Pokémon. His own area of expertise is non-biological Pokémon and considers himself an expert on them, though he is also studying spirituality and other aspects of the Pokémon world. He also has quite the appetite and loves to eat. He is quite comfortable with himself and even with his flaws, he is glad to be who he is.
History: While he calls Mauville City his home, he was actually born in Cherrygrove City in Johto. However, he moved to Hoenn when he was young and besides some family contacts from the area, he has mostly cut ties from there.
He was born and raised in a rather normal family, his mother working at the local TV station as a producer and his father being a librarian for the Mauville naval yard. He has a brother two years younger than him and while they were very similar in some ways, they were completely different in others. They got on each other’s nerves a lot, but that was natural for siblings. He made a few friends over the years, each varying types of nerds. They'd often get together to talk about the newest games that have come out and sometime play some Mystery Dungeons and Dragon Types.
One of the major influences he's had growing up was being a member of the local Sinnohist church. From the church he has learned all about the different legends as well as many important values. He became a know member in the church and through the church he has been able to help out around the community.
In school he did ok. While his favourite subjects were science, his marks were all rather low across the board. He knew his stuff, but he had a hard time getting his work done. While he never failed anything, he knew he could do much better. Fortunately, his teachers knew this and supported him throughout his school years. On the side, he also wrote some papers on non-biological Pokémon which received a lot of attention. Upon graduating, he was given a subject reward for astronomy and a job offer from Silph co. due to his research papers. He was stunned and very honoured to receive the offer, it wasn't easy to get a job at the technology giant. However he refused the job, he wished to go out and proceed with his own studies. The recruiters at Silph co. instead gave him a gift, a Porygon. Alex was over whelmed, it was a dream Pokémon for him, especially for his studies of non-biological pokemon. He bestowed it the name Glitch and soon after he left to see what he could discover in the world.
